Levels of excess dopamine in the body is reduced as their main action is on dopamine receptors. The advanced antipsychotics are atypical antipsychotics, the older ones are knowns as typical antipsychotics. Atypical antipsychotics, miscellaneous antipsychotics, Phenothiazine antipsychotics, thioxanthene. Antipsychotics are also called as neuroleptics or major tranquilizers.
